PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina (27870)
• Job Title: PCU Registered Nurse – Travel/Locum Tenens
• Unit: Medical Step Down Unit (PCU)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing / Locum Tenens
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/23/2025)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960
• Patient Ratio: 1:5, 1:6 (RC), 1:4 (intermediate group)
• Unit Size: 36 beds; average census 25-30
• Scrub Color: Black

PCU Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a PCU Registered Nurse or Step Down RN
• Active RN license (Compact nursing licenses accepted)
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Proficient in IV insertion and clinical support procedures
• Ability to pass Relias exams (2 attempts allowed)
• Willingness to float to Emergency Department (ED), Medical Surgical (Med Surg), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as needed
• 80-mile radius rule applies

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults with acute and chronic conditions, including MI, CVA, HTN, CHF, peritoneal dialysis, diabetes, GI bleed, COPD, respiratory failure, and renal failure
• Assist with and perform procedures such as chest tube insertion, central line insertion, HD tunneled catheter insertion, and thoracentesis
• Titrate vasoactive drips (Nitro, Cardene, Cardizem) as per protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to ED, Med Surg, and ICU units as required for clinical support
• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation
