Summary: Queens University of Charlotte’s Athletics is an NCAA Division I program distinguished by its commitment to transforming the lives of its students and consistently competing at the highest possible levels. The Royals joined the ASUN Conference on July 1, 2022.

Former graduate assistants (GA) and interns have used their learning and practicing experiences with the Royals to land jobs with organizations such as the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, USA Triathlon, USA Swimming, and Ally to name a few.

This is a 2-year, 20 hour/week graduate assistant position that reports directly to the Head Coach for Men’s Basketball. The GA position begins May 18, 2026. The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to six credit hours per semester. No housing is offered.

This position is considered a Responsible Employee for purposes of the university’s Sexual Misconduct Policy. As such, this position is required to report any incident of sexual misconduct or interpersonal violence to the university’s Title IX Coordinator when made aware of such.

Queens conducts confidential background investigations on candidates as part of the hiring process, including any past NCAA rules violations. According to the NCAA bylaws:

“Contractual agreements or appointments between a coach and an institution shall include the stipulation that a coach who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.”

  • Learn and practice developing strong management skills through group projects and consulting assignments.
  • Learn and practice effectively coordinating and overseeing team projects, ensuring timely completion and quality deliverables.
  • Learn and practice applying management skills while leading and mentoring a diverse group of athletes.

Technology Skills

  • Learn and practice applying technological expertise to create visually appealing graphics for attracting new recruits.
  • Learn and practice utilizing spreadsheet software to build comprehensive and efficient data management systems.
  • Learn about and practice with emerging technologies and incorporating them into coaching and communication practices.

Communications

  • Learn and practice communication skills.
  • Learn and practice effectively conveying ideas, strategies, and instructions to team members, recruits, and stakeholders.
  • Learn and practice utilizing various communication channels to maintain strong relationships with athletes, coaches, and administration.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current, full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte
  • Strong communication, planning, event management, organization, and writing skills.
  • Strong follow‐up skills as well as plan, organize and control projects to completion.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and exceptional verbal and written communication
