HIL Test Engineer

As the HIL Test Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Design, develop, and execute automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test cases for vehicle control systems
Model vehicle dynamics, sensors, and actuators using simulation tools such as Simulink, Stateflow, or Modelica
Set up, integrate, and troubleshoot HIL test benches (e.g., dSPACE, National Instruments, Vector)
Validate control software for safety, functionality, and performance
Develop and tune feedback control loops (e.g., PID) and apply signal processing techniques (filters, noise reduction, etc.)
Implement real-time models and controls on embedded ECUs
Support testing and validation of vehicle subsystems including braking, steering, and powertrain
Collaborate across engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of control systems
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
3–5 years of hands-on experience with HIL testing (preferably using dSPACE or NI platforms)
Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink and Stateflow for system modeling and control logic development
Solid understanding of vehicle control systems including powertrain, steering, braking, and ADAS technologies
Experience with CAN/LIN communication protocols and tools such as CANoe and CANape
Strong debugging and diagnostic skills for embedded and real-time systems
Familiarity with the full embedded software development lifecycle
Preferred: Knowledge of ISO 26262 (functional safety), Python scripting for automation, and Agile/Scrum development practices
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
