Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for an intermediate-level Data Center Rack & Stack Engineers to support daily operations within a large enterprise data center environment. This is a hands-on role focused on physical infrastructure deployment, installation, decommissioning, cabling, and equipment management.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform server and network equipment installation, relocation, and decommissioning within the data center environment.

· Install and remove servers, storage devices, switches, and related hardware from racks and cabinets.

· Mount rails, brackets, and hardware components according to installation standards.

· Perform structured cabling activities, including copper and fiber patching, routing, dressing, labeling, and documentation.

· Validate power connections and ensure equipment is properly connected to designated power sources.

· Conduct basic hardware troubleshooting and assist with identifying physical connectivity issues.

· Manage inventory, asset tracking, equipment staging, and hardware receiving processes.

· Maintain accurate labeling and documentation of equipment, cabling, and rack layouts.

· Follow established data center procedures, safety standards, and change management processes.

· Support day-to-day operational activities and provide general physical data center support as required.

· Coordinate with technical teams, vendors, and data center personnel to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Required Qualifications

· 2+ years of experience working in a data center, IT infrastructure, or rack-and-stack environment.

· Experience installing and removing servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.

· Knowledge of structured cabling practices, including copper and fiber patching.

· Familiarity with rack layouts, cable management, power distribution units (PDUs), and data center best practices.

· Ability to perform physical installation tasks, including lifting and moving equipment as needed.

· Basic troubleshooting skills related to server hardware, cabling, and connectivity.

· Experience with inventory management and asset tracking.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent communication and professionalism when interacting with team members and stakeholders.
