This hybrid Senior Electrical Engineer - GIS Switchgear position is based in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply . Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates .
You will analyze customer's technical specifications, one-line diagrams, and schematic diagrams regarding the application of Siemens Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear products and associated protection and control systems. You will develop solutions, meeting our customers' expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.
You'll make a difference by:
- Working independently or as part of a project team to create all engineering documents for customer approval and manufacturing of MV switchgear.
- Using the Siemens engineering switchgear configurator software to prepare accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material.
- Being a technical project leader, taking full ownership of the overall work product while guiding a team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Providing factory support during the manufacture of your projects to ensure that the final result is true to your design, and providing technical support to our service teams and to customers as required.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Four to Seven (or more) years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution products and systems, with an emphasis on MV switchgear.
- Solid understanding of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage distribution products with proven ability to share this knowledge with others.
- Ability to analyze customer technical specifications regarding application of protection and control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet expectations.
- Electrical drafting experience using AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software.
- Proven ability to read and understand one-line diagrams and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred).
- Experience using ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear design solutions.
- Ability to multi-task and handle important workloads and business demands.
- Experience with electrical design for Air Insulated MV switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), particularly with Siemens switchgear products.
- Detail oriented, process-driven, and able to adopt a culture of quality.
- SAP experience with parts and populating bill of materials.
