Estimator / Senior Estimator – Mechanical Contracting

Location: Raleigh, NC
Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000 (based on experience and level)
(Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available; remote flexibility possible for highly experienced candidates.)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Estimators and Senior Estimators to join a growing mechanical contracting team in Raleigh, NC. This group specializes in large, complex commercial and industrial projects and is looking for professionals capable of accurately estimating multi-million to $100M+ mechanical scopes.

This is a chance to play a key role in preconstruction efforts while working with a company that values safety, performance, and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems on large-scale projects.
• Review and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and scope validations.
• Solicit, analyze, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and benchmarking databases.
• Partner with design, preconstruction, procurement, and operations teams to deliver competitive proposals.
• Identify risks, recommend contingencies, and participate in value engineering discussions.
• Support proposal preparation and present estimates to leadership and clients.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimating staff (for Senior Estimator level).
• Lead high-value bids ($50M–$100M+) and independently manage complex estimating efforts (for Senior Estimator level).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of mechanical estimating experience (Estimator).
• 12+ years of mechanical estimating experience with proven leadership (Senior Estimator).
• Demonstrated success estimating large commercial/industrial mechanical scopes of $10M–$100M+.
• Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with BIM/Revit/Navisworks is a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and vendor relationship skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple concurrent pursuits.
• Strong regional subcontractor/vendor network preferred.
