Position Summary:
We’re seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently handle excavators and related heavy machinery in support of construction, utility, and hauling operations. The ideal candidate will have strong ability to interpret site plans, manage trenching and back-fill operations, and work within a team environment under varying site conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate hydraulic excavators ranging from mini-excavators up to 15-ton and larger.
- Perform tasks including digging trenches, backfilling, loading materials into trucks or conveyors, and hauling material when required.
- Read and interpret site plans, grade/cut/fill maps, and utility mark-outs.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment; report maintenance issues; maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Work safely around underground utilities and structures, ensuring trench slopes and depths comply with project and OSHA standards.
- Assist truck drivers and other laborers when equipment is idle or site demands shift to hauling or dump-truck operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating excavators in construction, utilities, or demolition environments.
- Ability to read site plans and utility markings; familiarity with cut/fill operations and grades.
- Valid Driver’s License required; CDL preferred for dump-truck operation.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Experience with other heavy equipment (backhoe, dozer, skid steer) and/or GPS or laser grading systems is a plus.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and on rough terrain.
- Strong safety mindset and team-oriented attitude.
