Job Description
Join a growing team that installs and services fire alarm systems across the greater Charlotte area. You will work on a variety of projects, using your hands-on skills with conduit, wiring, and low-voltage systems to ensure reliable and compliant fire alarm installations. This role suits technicians with practical field experience who want a long-term opportunity and are eager to learn and grow. Currently working in Shelby for 4 weeks and moving to Gastonia after.
Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems on commercial and residential projects throughout the greater Charlotte area.
- Bend and install conduit accurately and safely to support fire alarm wiring runs.
- Pull, route, and terminate low-voltage wiring for fire alarm devices and control panels.
- Wire up fire alarm panels, detectors, notification appliances, and related system components according to plans and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation diagrams to complete projects correctly and efficiently.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and repair of fire alarm systems to identify and resolve wiring or device issues.
- Support service and maintenance activities on existing fire alarm systems as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a strong safety mindset on job sites.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and trades to complete projects on schedule.
- Maintain reliable transportation to travel to various job sites across the greater Charlotte area.
- Participate in training and on-the-job learning to expand skills, including exposure to fire alarm programming as needed.
Essential Skills
- Approximately 2+ years of hands-on experience working with fire alarm systems or closely related low-voltage installations.
- Proficiency in bending conduit for fire alarm and low-voltage installations.
- Ability to pull, route, and organize low-voltage wiring in a neat and code-compliant manner.
- Experience wiring fire alarm systems, including panels, detectors, and notification devices.
- Basic understanding of fire alarm system components and how they integrate in an overall system.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and installation drawings.
- Fundamental electrical and low-voltage knowledge related to fire alarm installation and service.
- Troubleshooting skills for identifying wiring, device, or connection issues in fire alarm systems.
- Reliable transportation to travel to multiple job sites in the greater Charlotte area.
- Punctuality and strong attendance habits.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Consistent safety mindset and adherence to job site safety practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with fire alarm programming or configuration of system software is a plus but not required.
- Previous exposure to service and repair work on fire alarm or low-voltage systems.
- Experience working on construction sites or in field installation roles.
- Trainable attitude with a willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Detail-oriented approach to ensure neat, accurate, and code-compliant installations.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role working on fire alarm installation projects at various sites throughout the greater Charlotte area. You will spend most of your time on active job sites, which may include commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The work involves using hand and power tools to bend conduit, pull wire, and install low-voltage fire alarm equipment. Hours typically follow standard construction schedules, with the possibility of overtime depending on project needs. You will work closely with other technicians and trades in a collaborative environment that prioritizes safety and quality workmanship. Dress expectations align with a professional construction setting, including appropriate workwear and safety gear suitable for job site conditions.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelby, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
