As a Host/Hostess at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe, we believe that your welcoming smile sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Tobacco Road is located on the American Tobacco Campus, overlooking the Durham Bulls Athletic Field and next to the DPAC.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Warm Welcome:
   • Greet guests with a genuine smile and a friendly welcome as they enter the restaurant.
   • Make guests feel comfortable by promptly acknowledging their presence and providing them with a positive first impression.
2. Seating and Reservations:
   • Manage the seating arrangements efficiently, ensuring that guests are seated in a timely and organized manner, considering server workload and reservations.
   • Keep track of reservations and special requests, accommodating guests to the best of our ability.
3. Clear Communication:
   • Effectively communicate with servers and other team members to ensure a smooth flow of guests through the restaurant.
   • Provide clear information to guests regarding wait times, specials, and any other relevant information.
4. Maintain a Neat Environment:
   • Keep the host/hostess area clean, organized, and visually appealing.
   • Monitor and manage the waiting area to ensure a tidy and inviting atmosphere for guests.
5. Customer Service Excellence:
   • Demonstrate exceptional customer service by promptly addressing guests' needs, concerns, or requests.
   • Always strive to exceed guests' expectations, making them feel valued and appreciated throughout their visit.
6. Efficient Reservation Management:
   • Handle reservation inquiries, confirmations, and cancellations in a courteous and organized manner.
   • Work closely with the management team to optimize table assignments and ensure a balanced workload for servers.
7. Team Collaboration:
   • Collaborate with fellow team members to create a positive work environment that reflects our dedication to exceptional guest experiences.
   • Support team members and adapt to changing needs and priorities with a cooperative and flexible attitude.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and a friendly demeanor.
• Strong work ethic and dedication to providing exceptional service.
• Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role is a plus, but not required.

Average pay is $10/hour + tips. Strong hosts/hostesses are able to move into serving positions.
