Paramedic
" A $5000 sign-on bonus will be payable to all new employees over the course of 24 months. If an employee leaves the county for any reason before completing 24 months of employment, that employee will be responsible for reimbursing any money received from the sign-on bonus”.
Example of Duties:- Under general supervision, performs skilled and technical work in operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering emergency medical care to patients on site and while in route to hospital.
- Work involves responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to a medical facility.
- Employee must exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in dealing with sick or injured persons and with the public.
- Employee is responsible for performing in accordance with established emergency medical procedures and techniques but must exercise considerable independent judgment to assess conditions of patients and apply short-term relief.
- Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases.
- Reports to Paramedic/Shift Supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree or Vocational certification as a Paramedic; 2 years’ experience in emergency medical services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities,
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
- Certification as a North Carolina EMT Paramedic required upon hire and must maintain for duration of employment
- Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
