Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mechanic (Fabrication)

- You can perform preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial machinery with confidence
- Electrical or mechanical issue? You can diagnose with test equipment and hand tools
- You are comfortable assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining wiring, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and fixtures
- You know how to connect wiring to breakers, transformers, and more
- You can program and troubleshoot VFDs and PLCs
- Rigging, aligning, balancing, and creating layout drawings do not intimidate you
- You weld and use an oxyacetylene torch safely and effectively
- You keep electrical systems compliant with codes at the country, state, and federal levels
- You can fabricate parts from cold rolled steel, stainless, plate, structural steel members, and other metals
- You take pride in error-free work and support safety and quality programs
- You keep your area clean, work well under direct supervision, and handle other duties as assigned
Must-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Solid mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and basic critical thinking
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and assisting with repairs on CNCs, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment
- Laser alignment and vibration monitoring proficiency
- VFD and PLC programming and troubleshooting competence
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and other mechanical systems
- Ability to use ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes for electrical testing and circuit continuity checks
- Welding and oxyacetylene torch capability; maintain welding certification
- Operate forklifts, high lifts, and cranes; maintain equipment certifications
- Fluency in hand tools: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander
- Ability to speak, write, and understand conversational English
Physical and environmental expectations
- Stand/walk for most of the shift, including 2–5 miles
- Frequent bend, sit, stand, twist, stoop
- Lift/carry 25–50 lbs from floor to waist; front-carry 25–50 lbs repeatedly
- Reach overhead; squat; kneel; climb short ladders/steps
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, roofs on wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Fine motor coordination for precise tasks
- Read labels; follow SOPs and safety instructions; communicate clearly
- 20/30 vision with corrective lenses
- Exposure to changing temperatures, loud noise, vibration
- Proximity to moving machinery, electrical current, high heat, and chemicals
- Atmospheric exposure: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gas, or low ventilation
- Contact with oils and cutting fluids
