Job Summary:

The Sawyer position works in the fast-paced, automated sawmill positions and will be responsible for running and maintaining various sawmill production saws like Scrag saw, Cleerman band saw, Jocar band saw, End Trimmer saw, and other various equipment as assigned. Successful candidates will be good team member and hard worker. All Woodgrain employees will be expected to exemplify our core values and put Safety Above All.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitors equipment and lumber flow for issues that would interrupt production.
• Works with maintenance personnel to perform light preventative maintenance.
• Responsible for Operation/Maintenance and cleanliness over assigned equipment to include:
  • Scrag saw
  • Cleerman headrig
  • Jocar resaw
  • End trimmer
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned .

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Production experience a plus
• 1 year of experience working in manufacturing
• Sawmill experience a plus
• Safety oriented
• Ability to learn computer systems
• Must be a safety minded individual who is comfortable working in a production environment.
• Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces. .

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
