Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Charlotte, NC 28204 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Shift: 12-hour days (06:45 – 19:15), 36 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1700 - $1750
• Unit: Labor & Delivery (Delivery Room)
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Average Daily Census: 20 births, 30-40 admits, 20 rooms
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Float Requirement: May float to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Provided (blue)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (3 years preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state (must be in hand by start date)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced certification
• NRP certification
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Competency in circulating for C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
• Comfortable in high-volume, high-acuity hospital settings
• Ability to float to related OB units as needed
• First-time travel nurses accepted with large/high-volume hospital experience

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive care to obstetrical patients (16 weeks and greater) for intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum needs
• Perform triage, outpatient procedures, and antenatal fetal surveillance
• Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births; assist with rescue cervical cerclage
• Conduct sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care
• Administer medications, start/maintain peripheral IVs, and manage pain assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and pharmacy
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic; follow SBAR communication protocols
• Float to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit as needed
