PCU RN Job Details – North Carolina Healthcare Jobs

• Location: Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870
• Healthcare Setting: Medical Step Down Unit (Progressive Care Unit)
• Assignment Length: 14 weeks (9/22/2025 – 12/28/2025)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 (may flex to 1:6 during high census)
• Scrub Colors: Black or white
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Compact RN licenses accepted
• BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
• Proficiency in IV insertion and clinical procedures
• Ability to pass Relias exams (2 attempts allowed)
• Must comply with 80-mile radius rule

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care to adults with acute and chronic conditions including chest pain, congestive heart failure (CHF), pulmonary embolism (PE), GI bleed, COPD, respiratory failure, diabetes, and renal failure
• Monitor and assess patients in a 37-bed Progressive Care Unit, collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Perform and assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion, central line insertion, hemodialysis (HD) tunneled catheter insertion, and thoracentesis
• Maintain accurate electronic documentation and uphold patient safety standards
• Adapt to changing patient ratios and provide clinical support to colleagues as needed
