Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist & General Supervisor , you will be supporting the Clinical Lab in data entry. Duties include:

  • Maintains policies and procedures for specimen processing and data entry tasks
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Maintains quality assurance and quality control programs, taking corrective action when necessary
  • Follow lab procedures for specimen processing
  • Determines specimen acceptability, consulting with supervisor, technologist, or Lab Director as needed taking appropriate action when necessary
  • Accurately enters all required information presented on NavDx Test Requisition Form or client specific requisitions into the laboratory information system
  • Understands and recognizes laboratory information system alerts and flags and takes the appropriate action
  • Recognizes when information presented on requisitions is unclear and ambiguous and knows and follows corrective actions to be taken
  • Assists in the drafting of result reports within the scope of the position
  • Communicates with staff to ensure highest level quality of work for each specimen received
  • Assists technologists with various lab duties
  • Operates general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: computer keyboards, centrifuges, and scanning equipment.
  • Effectively communicates via written, verbal, face-to-face, telephone, and computer methods.
  • Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to clients and patients
  • Maintains CAP/CLIA compliance
  • Ability to work onsite at our Durham, NC lab, Monday - Friday 12:00 - 5:00pm EST.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in a CAP/CLIA laboratory environment preferred
  • Can work independently, ability to multitask, self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge with MS Office applications and Adobe Acrobat. Previous exposure to electronic document management systems (EDMS) or Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is desirable

All roles at Naveris require compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of HIPAA and acceptance and adherence to all policies and standards at Naveris. Personnel acknowledges they are personally responsible for reporting any suspected violations or abuse and are required to complete HIPAA training when joining the company.
