Carrier Sales Account Manager (Full Truckload – FTL) Position Overview
The Carrier Sales Account Manager is responsible for sourcing, onboarding, and managing carrier relationships to support Full Truckload (FTL) freight operations. This role focuses on securing reliable capacity, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring high service performance while maintaining strong partnerships with trucking companies.
Key ResponsibilitiesSource and develop relationships with FTL carriers nationwide
Negotiate truckload rates to optimize margins while ensuring carrier profitability
Secure capacity for spot and contracted freight
Vet and onboard new carriers (compliance, insurance, safety ratings)
Monitor shipments from pickup to delivery, proactively addressing delays or service issues
Track market trends, lane pricing, and seasonal capacity shifts
Build long-term partnerships with owner-operators and fleet carriers
Maintain accurate carrier records in TMS and CRM systems
Collaborate closely with Account Executives to support customer freight needs
Ensure compliance with DOT and brokerage regulations
1–3+ years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or FTL dispatch
Strong understanding of Full Truckload (dry van, reefer, flatbed)
Knowledge of spot market dynamics and lane-based pricing
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Ability to manage high shipment volume in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Established carrier network
Experience using load boards (DAT, Truckstop)
Familiarity with MC/DOT compliance and insurance requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
