QA Tester/Automation Engineer

job summary:
Consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Systems Quality Assurance and contribute to large-scale planning related to Systems Quality Assurance deliverables. Review and analyze moderately complex Systems Quality Assurance challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Contribute to the resolution of moderately complex issues and consult with others to meet Systems Quality Assurance deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with client personnel in Systems Quality Assurance.

responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities Manual Testing & UAT (50%)

• Execute end-to-end manual UAT test cases for commercial banking and deposit platforms.
• Participate in physical ATM lab testing , validating hardware-to-software interactions and transaction flows.
• Perform backend validation using SQL queries to verify data integrity and transaction accuracy.
• Document detailed defects, including reproduction steps and logs, and track them through the resolution lifecycle in ALM Octane .
• Assist in the creation of comprehensive test plans and UAT summary reports.

Automation & Technical Execution (50%)

• Develop, refactor, and maintain automation test scripts using Selenium with Java .
• Utilize ALM Octane daily for test management, script execution, and maintaining the Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM).
• Translate functional requirements into Gherkin syntax to support Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) using Cucumber .
• Integrate automated tests into existing CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot script failures.
• Research system features and technical specifications to ensure automation coverage aligns with business needs.

Collaboration & Compliance

• Participate in Sprint planning, Daily Stand-ups, and Defect Triage meetings.
• Collaborate with Developers and Business Analysts to resolve requirement ambiguities.
• Ensure all testing activities adhere to the enterprise risk and compliance standards for financial services.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and/or User Acceptance Testing (UAT) within financial services.
• Hands-on ALM Octane Experience (REQUIRED): Proficiency in using ALM Octane for test case management and defect tracking.
• Selenium & Java: Demonstrated ability to write and execute automation scripts in a Java-based environment.
• SQL Proficiency: Experience writing SQL queries for backend data validation and test data setup.
• Banking Domain: Prior experience testing consumer or commercial banking applications (Deposits, Payments, or ATM).
• Communication: Strong ability to report status clearly and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Location Requirement: Must be local to Charlotte, NC, and committed to working 100% Onsite (5 Days/Week) at the CIC Center.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Mainframe or host system validation (e.g., Systematics).
• Experience with BDD/Cucumber frameworks.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions .
• Prior experience at a large-scale financial institution (e.g., Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Truist).

qualifications:
5+ years commercial banking UAT experience from a banker or customer experience; Must be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment. 5 days a week in the office.
