Precision Metrology Quality Inspector II
Step Into the Role
Each shift, you become the guardian of dimensional accuracy. You’ll translate mechanical drawings and GD&T into action, using metrology tools to confirm every feature is within specification. You’ll log results in both paper and electronic records, process transactions in the ERP system, and surface nonconformances with clear, concise reports—while continuously sharpening how inspection gets done.
A Day in the Life
When you arrive, your bench is orderly, gauges are calibrated, and visual management cues guide your flow. You pick up a new lot, read the drawing to identify nominal dimensions and tolerances, then verify features using micrometers (all types), an optical comparator, a Mueller gage, and other core inspection tools. You evaluate cosmetic conditions with a critical eye, determine conformance, capture your findings in both paper and digital systems, and, when needed, write nonconforming reports with minimal oversight. If a CMM stalls, you troubleshoot common outages to keep work moving. Throughout the day, you contribute improvement ideas—and even lead small projects—to make the inspection process better tomorrow than it was today.
