Grounds Team Assistant

PURPOSE:

The Grounds Team Assistant works alongside the Grounds Team Leader to ensure Brookstone’s properties are maintained to the highest standards. This role includes mowing, trimming, planting, and general upkeep to ensure all grounds are clean, healthy, and visually appealing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred
Basic knowledge of plants, lawn care, and landscaping techniques
Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment safely
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Physically able to lift up to 80 lbs and perform manual labor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas
Mow, edge, trim, and fertilize grass areas
Plant, prune, and remove trees, shrubs, and flowers as needed
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
Remove debris, leaves, snow, and litter from grounds and walkways
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides according to safety guidelines
Inspect grounds for hazards and report maintenance or safety issues
Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, application of salt, and leaf clean up
Perform minor repairs to fences, outdoor fixtures, and other miscellaneous items as needed
Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations

Time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic mechanical and equipment maintenance skills
Good communication skills
Comfortable using tools such as Basecamp, Planning Center, and Gmail for
communication and task management

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hand and power tools
Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and equipment

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Grounds Team Assistant reports to the Grounds Team Leader, Facilities Manager and the Executive Pastor of Operations and Outreach.

HOURS:

Sunday 7AM to 1:30PM, Monday-Thursday (hours flexible depending upon season)
