Early Childhood - Food Service Coordinator

Summary

We are searching for a Food Service Coordinator/ Cook to promote the vision and leadership of Master’s Garden Preschool. Through an active, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and your culinary and organizational skills, you’ll have the opportunity to cultivate relationships while providing snacks and meals that meet the needs of children and staff while glorifying God. EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Any combination equivalent to Graduation of High School or higher
• CPR/First Aid training
• Prefer Sanitation credentials
• Experience in food service preferred; preferably in child care or an institutional setting, however, training is available
• Basic math skills for measuring and portioning
• Must clear full background check and pass the required health screening

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To lead the food preparation, handling, and distribution for the preschool
• To provide varied and nutritious menus
• To order and store all food items needed efficiently and in a timely manner, observing the budgetary limits of the school
• To maintain sanitary and safe conditions in the food preparation area

ACCOUNTABILITY

• Reports directly to the MGP Director or delegated supervision when needed 
• Accountable in general to the Board of Directors and Ebenezer Baptist Church

Duties

MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS:

• Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and assist them in that task
• Demonstrate to families and staff a commitment to Christ and to live under His Lordship
• To use quality food production techniques to produce appealing and nutritious foods
• To use standardized recipes and follow assigned schedules and guidelines in order to promote healthy eating
• To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times according to Orange County Health and North Carolina regulations
• To ensure that any information received concerning children is kept confidential at all times
• To attend staff meetings and training opportunities as requested
• To maintain organized storage areas at all times
• To monitor inventory levels of food items and service supplies and order in a timely and efficient manner
• To be flexible with the working practices of the preschool
• To be prepared to help when other areas of the preschool as needed to assist other co-workers specified by the pre-school director
• Provide first aid to children according to established procedures
• To prepare weekly menus according to nutrition guidelines 
• To perform job functions in a productive and efficient manner
• Arrive to work on time and consistently observe the established work schedule

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Profession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and desire to live under His Lordship through active membership in a local body of believers doctrinally consistent with EBC
• Clear calling and passion to serve preschool age children and their families, grounded in a love for Jesus Christ
• Excellent communication skills for interpersonal and electronic communication
• Knowledge, understanding, and ability to adhere to all state and local requirements and regulations (e.g. licensing, health, safety, fire, sanitation, etc.)
• Exhibit spiritual leadership and high regard for integrity and confidentiality
• The ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment in a supportive, transparent, and solution-driven fashion
• Understand general principles of sanitation and safety practices related to preparing, handling, and serving food
• Understand the general principles of nutrition
• Ability to maintain proper inventory in practices and procedures
• Ability to manage conflict resolution with a Christ-like attitude
• Willingness to work within the organizational guidelines of Ebenezer Baptist Church
