Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details

• Location: Maryville, Tennessee 37804 (East Tennessee nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel RN
• Unit: Medical Surgical Telemetry (Step-down from ICU, adult patients, no vents or pressor support)
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15), 3 shifts/week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Setting: Community Hospital, Adult Medical/Surgical Unit
• EMR: Epic
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1770 - $1820

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Experience with ER holding and managing cardiac drips (heparin, cardizem, amiodarone)
• Ability to float to other med/surg units as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Strong skills in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and central line care
• Preferred: Prior community hospital or travel nursing experience

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults on a 28-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage cardiac drips (no titration), and initiate sotolol as needed
• Care for patients with increased oxygen needs, dialysis, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-myocardial infarction
• Administer blood products, manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, and wound vacs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to other medical-surgical units within the hospital as required
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in rapid response and adhere to isolation precautions
