HVAC/R Installation / Construction Manager

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Installation & Construction Manager to lead and oversee refrigeration and HVAC installation projects within a designated region. This role is responsible for managing project profitability, coordinating field operations, and leading teams to ensure successful, safe, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full P&L responsibility for installation projects within assigned geography
• Oversee and ensure project-level profitability and performance
• Plan and coordinate all phases of installation projects, including:
  • Scheduling and manpower forecasting
  • Procurement of materials, permits, and supplies
• Monitor job progress and provide regular status reporting
• Maintain strong communication with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Resolve project issues quickly and effectively
• Track and manage inventory including trucks, parts, and materials
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, and subcontractors
• Lead, develop, and hold teams accountable for performance and results
• Recruit, hire, and onboard Supervisors, Foremen, and installation crews
• Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback
• Drive performance using metrics and KPIs
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Promote and enforce safe work practices, including PPE usage
• Oversee third-party vendors and subcontractors as needed

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Trade school or technical certification preferred
• Bachelor’s degree is a plus

Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of leadership/people management experience
• 10+ years of experience in commercial construction or related field
• Experience managing subcontractors preferred
• Strong understanding of construction practices, labor forecasting, and project execution
• Proven experience managing budgets and P&L
• Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities
• Knowledge of jobsite safety standards and compliance
• Proficiency with business tools (Microsoft Office, ERP systems, dispatch/work order systems)
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Work Environment

• Primarily office-based with regular interaction in field environments
