Job Summary
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the full spectrum of Human Resources functions within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The site specializes in producing high-quality ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, with a strong commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and employee well-being. The intern will support daily HR operations and contribute to initiatives across employee engagement, compliance, benefits administration, onboarding, and more. This position is ideal for individuals looking to explore the HR field in a collaborative and fast-paced setting.
Job Description
- Serve as the primary contact for employee medical leave, workers’ compensation, administrative leave, and FMLA tracking
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee files, records, and documentation
- Review and process new hire benefits enrollment, ensuring information is entered into vendor systems and updated in MyHR as needed
- Update benefit plans and process COBRA notifications upon employee termination
- Maintain annual benefits summary sheets for both sites
- Submit benefits reports to vendors for employee Total Rewards Statements
- Manage employee attendance and recognition programs
- Assist with the coordination of employee meetings, town halls, and company events
- Support the planning and execution of wellness initiatives
- Manage internal communications and announcements displayed on company monitors
- Assist with planning and executing employee events, including benefits enrollment, recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations
- Prepare attendance, hours, and weekly headcount reports
- Generate cost center count reports for the Finance team
- Prepare weekly HRA reports for Finance
- Process invoices and assist with financial reporting
- Support month-end and year-end reporting for the company HR
- Assist with updating company policies, job descriptions, and compliance documentation
- Support federal and state compliance reporting, projects, and audits
- Coordinate job interview scheduling and support recruitment activities
- Assist with maintaining HRIS information in MyHR
- Support onboarding activities for new employees
- Assist with posting HR communications and company announcements
- Support corporate initiatives and employee engagement activities
- Assist with payroll and benefits-related inquiries
- Coordinate with the IT department regarding office equipment needs
- Support employee recognition for birthdays, anniversaries, and sympathy acknowledgements
Skills Required
- Must uphold ethical standards and integrity when handling sensitive confidential information
- Proficiency in Google preferred or MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular)
- Time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Should possess a blend of hard and soft skills
- Essential competencies include communication, organizational skills, and the ability to learn HR practices
- Interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Understanding HR software, legal aspects of HR, and data analysis can be valuable
- Effective written and verbal communication is vital for interacting with employees, HR staff, and stakeholders
- Accuracy in managing documentation and understanding compliance requirements
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new situations, and acquire new knowledge is essential
- Familiarity with HR systems and software is a plus
Education/Training/Certifications
- High school diploma or GED
Pay Rate/Salary
- $26.00 - $31.00/hr. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
