Rail Bogie Overhaul Mechanic

Snapshot of the role

• Employer: Siemens Mobility
• Location: Lexington, NC
• Team focus: Overhaul of locomotive trucks (bogies) for TSSSA customers
• Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
• Reports to: CS Production Manager

What you’ll do

• Execute full overhaul maintenance to meet the production plan
• Remove, inspect, and install components per Siemens work instructions
• Operate a state-of-the-art wheel lathe to re-profile train wheelsets as needed
• Pre-clean parts with a pressure washer to enable accurate inspection
• Move locomotive trucks safely using overhead cranes and other approved lifting devices
• Pull spares and materials from stores in coordination with the warehouse
• Maintain shop cleanliness and complete other tasks as directed by Management, Supervisors, and Lead Technicians
• Document actions and operations with precision

Must-haves

• High School Diploma/GED
• 2+ years of experience in a mechanical setting
• Fluency in English, written and verbal
• Ability to read technical drawings/publications and write detailed technical reports
• Strong tool control discipline; proficiency with torque wrenches, measuring equipment, and PPE

Nice-to-haves

• Railroad or overhaul experience
• Crane and/or forklift experience

Physical demands

• Comfort in non-climate-controlled environments when required
• Capability for standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle objects or tools
• Frequent verbal communication; occasional odor detection
• Lift/move up to 40 pounds
• Vision: close and distance, color differentiation, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $46,002 - $62,016. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
