Environmental Technician
Nucor is North America's largest recycler and most diversified steel and steel products company. Since 1969, we've led the industry in developing innovative technologies for recycling scrap into high-quality steels that are all around us, from bridges and buildings to cars and appliances. Basic Job Functions: The role of the Environmental Technician is to promote and sustain our culture of environmental stewardship. This position will be responsible for monitoring, operating and maintaining critical environmental and operational systems, including the Baghouse, Continuous Emission Rate Monitors, and Water Treatment Plant. The successful candidate will also lead and assist with storm-water management, permit and emission compliance, waste management, radiation detection, spill prevention/control, and overall success of the EHS Department. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year maintenance or environmental experience in water treatment or baghouse
- Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and with hazardous chemicals/wastePreferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with water treatment, fume treatment, or environmental compliance
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical knowledge
- Wastewater treatment license
