Oncology RN Job Details

• Location: Asheville, North Carolina (Zip: 28801) – North Carolina nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical Unit, 24-bed hospital unit
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (September 22, 2025 – December 22, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Employment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,010 – $2,280

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (oncology nursing experience preferred)
• Chemo Certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
• Ability to work at least 6 weekend days per schedule
• Strong teamwork and willingness to learn in a clinical setting

Oncology Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients
• Monitor patient status, administer medications, and deliver chemotherapy (if certified)
• Assist with clinical procedures such as pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including RNs, CNAs, and HUCs
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR system
• Float to other medical-surgical units as needed (rarely required)
• Comply with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and RN dress code (navy, white, or combination)
