As a Freight Broker 1 at UCW Logistics, you will play a critical role in our freight brokerage operations. You will be responsible for managing customer accounts, negotiating rates with carriers, and ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods. This position requires a proactive sales approach to develop new business while maintaining relationships with existing clients. You will utilize logistics software to track shipments and manage logistics documentation effectively.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Identify and develop relationships with potential clients and carriers.
• Negotiate freight rates and contracts with carriers and service providers.
• Manage and coordinate shipments from the point of origin to the destination.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
• Utilize TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and logistics software for tracking shipments and managing documentation.
• Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and trends within the logistics industry.
• Maintain detailed records of transactions, communications, and shipment details.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize logistics processes and enhance customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or related field preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation preferred; new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.
• Proficient in using logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to develop strategic relationships.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a strong desire to learn and grow in the logistics field.
