The Account Executive is responsible for driving new business development within an assigned territory. This role focuses on identifying and targeting prospective customers, generating leads, and closing new business through a consultative, solutions-based sales approach.
Responsibilities include prospecting, cold outreach, setting appointments, delivering presentations, and achieving sales quotas. The Account Executive builds long-term client relationships, identifies business needs, and positions comprehensive solutions that deliver value and drive customer success.
This is a true âhunterâ role requiring strong prospecting skills, business acumen, and the ability to manage a full sales cycle from initial contact to close. Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business through a structured prospecting strategy, including cold calling, networking, and lead generation
- Identify and qualify opportunities within assigned territory to build a strong sales pipeline
- Secure meetings with decision-makers and key stakeholders
- Conduct consultative sales presentations and effectively communicate value-based solutions
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing
- Maintain consistent pipeline activity and achieve or exceed sales targets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple decision-makers and influencers within client organizations
- Utilize creative outreach strategies to engage and develop new prospects
- Conduct territory and market analysis to identify growth opportunities and competitive positioning
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity within CRM systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support customer needs and drive business results
- Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, forecasting, and sales performance
- Manage time effectively to balance prospecting, appointments, and follow-ups
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and long-term client retention
- Develop and execute a territory strategy aligned with sales goals
- Prioritize opportunities and adjust approach based on market conditions
- Identify when to pivot strategy to maximize results
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to generate new business and build a pipeline
- Demonstrated success in closing deals and meeting or exceeding quotas
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a territory independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and sales tools (e.g., LinkedIn Navigator)
- Results-driven with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally within an organization
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
- Bachelorâs degree preferred (Sales, Marketing, or related field)
- 1.5â3+ years of B2B outside sales experience
- Experience selling value-based or solution-oriented services/products
- Proven track record of quota attainment (Presidentâs Club or similar achievements a plus)
- Experience with territory management and market development strategies
- Valid driverâs license
- Ability to work primarily in the field within assigned territory
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to travel occasionally (approximately 10%)
- Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 10 lbs)
