Clinical Pharmacist
Location North Carolina or Texas | Hybrid (Onsite for training; hybrid upon meeting performance metrics)

• $60.00 per hour

Role Impact
The Clinical Pharmacist provides clinical oversight and operational leadership for a specialty pharmacy patient care team. This role ensures safe, compliant dispensing practices while delivering high-touch patient counseling and evidence-based pharmacotherapy management. Success is defined by clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance, strong patient engagement (8 hours/day on the phone), and measurable patient outcomes.
• Conduct comprehensive pharmacotherapy reviews including drug utilization review (DUR), medication therapy management (MTM), interaction screening, side effect profiling, adherence counseling, and administration education
• Counsel patients on new and ongoing therapies; document clinical interventions in the patient chart to support coordinated care
• Serve as liaison between patients, caregivers, nurses, hospice teams, and prescribing clinicians to coordinate individualized services
• Process and verify prescriptions for accuracy, perform final product verification, and ensure compliance with state, federal, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
• Complete and follow Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) program requirements and specialty drug protocols
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, support sterile compounding (aseptic technique) oversight, and ensure quality assurance standards
• Manage intake of new referrals, adverse event reporting, product quality complaints, and therapy discontinuation workflows
• Adhere to Medicare, Medicaid, and other government payer regulations; ensure proper adjudication and claims support
• Participate in on-call coverage as directed by the Pharmacist-in-Charge
• Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in North Carolina or Texas (license in good standing required)
• 3–5 years of post-graduate experience in pharmacy operations, clinical oversight, or specialty pharmacy
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
Licenses & Certifications
• Current Pharmacist license in NC or TX (required)
• Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) certification or willingness to obtain when eligible
• Meets current Continuing Education (CE) requirements per Board of Pharmacy laws
Clinical Skill Set
• Drug utilization review (DUR) and medication therapy management (MTM)
• Oncology and specialty pharmacotherapy management
• REMS program compliance
• Controlled substance dispensing compliance
• Sterile compounding oversight and aseptic technique supervision
• Adverse event and product quality complaint reporting
• Government payer (Medicare/Medicaid) compliance
• Patient counseling and subcutaneous injection teaching
• Electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems
Preferred Skills
• Strong verbal communication skills and comfort with high-volume patient counseling (8 hours/day phone-based support)
• Ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed
• Experience in specialty or oncology pharmacy environments
