Retail Director (Thrift Store) Turn Treasure into Impact Yokefellow Ministries is seeking a Retail Director to lead our community-loved Thrift Store and help fuel the work of our Helping Center.
If you love retail, coaching people, and the thrill of finding (and selling) one-of-a-kind items, this is your chance to do it with a purpose. We are a nonprofit Christian ministry supported by member churches and individuals, serving our local community with practical help and hope. Our Thrift Store is open to the public, and every purchase helps fund assistance provided through our Helping Center.
Think: vintage gems, unexpected finds, and everyday essentials—items that might otherwise be discarded, now ready for a second life in someone’s home.
What you’ll do You’ll lead the day-to-day business of the Thrift Store —people, product, presentation, and performance—so we can maximize funds available to serve our neighbors.
- Direct all Thrift Store operations with a focus on smart expense management, growing revenue, and increasing net income to expand the help we provide.
- Own the operating budget; track performance and deliver on revenue, net income, and growth targets.
- Recruit, schedule, train, and coach Thrift Store staff (paid and volunteer) to deliver excellent service and steady results.
- Maintain and improve store procedures (opening/closing, cash handling, safety, loss prevention) to ensure a stable, safe, and productive environment. •
- Lead merchandising: decide what we sell, set pricing, optimize layout, and keep inventory flowing so the store stays fresh and stoppable.
- Own store branding and local marketing—website updates, social media, and community communications—to grow awareness, donations, and traffic.
- Partner with the Executive Director to support grant writing and funding opportunities connected to the Thrift Store and Helping Center.
What you’ll bring
- Retail leadership experience (store manager, assistant manager, or multi-area lead)— thrift/resale/nonprofit experience is a plus.
- Strong business acumen: budgeting, sales tracking, expense control, and comfort being accountable to goals.
- Merchandising instincts: pricing, presentation, and a customer-first eye for what sells.
- People leadership: ability to recruit, train, schedule, and motivate a team that includes volunteers.
- Operational excellence: safety awareness, dependable routines, and the ability to create and follow clear procedures.
- Marketing and communication skills (social media, basic website updates, community outreach).
- Comfort with basic technology (Point of Sale systems, email, spreadsheets, and scheduling tools).

Nice to have •
- Experience with donation intake, sorting workflows, and inventory rotation.
- Familiarity with online resale and marketing platforms (e.g., Facebook Marketplace, eBay) and local promotion.
- Basic grant-writing, fundraising, or sponsorship experience.
- Bilingual skills are helpful for serving a broader community.
