Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and troubleshoots mechanical systems within our manufacturing facility. This position requires an individual with a solid foundation in mechanical work, a commitment to safety, and a desire to continuously learn and apply their skills in a complex industrial environment. You will work within a team-oriented setting, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our machinery and systems.
Schedule and Pay:
This position works Mon to Thu 7 am-5:30 (10 hrs/day) and participates in rotating coverage for nights and weekends. This means that you will be required to work some nights and weekends. Pay is from $22.58-$26.50 + incentives and benefits including health insurance and a generous 401k (5% match). Overtime potential.
Responsibilities
- System Interpretation: Read, interpret, and work effectively from simple drawings/sketches.
- Welding and Cutting: Use a cutting torch and perform horizontal & vertical stick welding.
- Pipe Work: Thread pipe and perform some plumbing work, including PVC.
- Lubrication: Perform basic lubrication such as oiling & greasing.
- Pump and Agitator Maintenance: Perform packing on pumps & agitators.
- Advanced Welding: Perform horizontal & vertical TIG and carbon steel pipe welding.
- Fabrication: Fabricate simple machinery parts such as baseplates and frames.
- Equipment Alignment: Square & level equipment using tools. Bearing Knowledge: Have knowledge of basic bearings and be able to change small bearings (on felt rolls, agitators, etc.)
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify and safely use common hand tools.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure seamless operations and problem resolution.
- Safety First: Maintain a safety-minded approach in all actions, prioritizing personal safety and the safety of others.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of how mechanical equipment operates.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely use tools such as drill press, horizontal band saw, bench mounted grinder, and handheld power tools (drills, band saw, circular saw, grinder, sanders).
- Ability to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting, sawing, grinding.
- Ability to make screw threads using tap & die.
Physical Requirements:
Requires preventative maintenance and troubleshooting a production line that regularly receives deliveries, runs equipment, moves product. It requires frequently lifting and moving amidst a busy team.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive motions for extended periods.
