We are recruiting a Controller for a growing firm in the Raleigh area, this is a new role due to growth. This role will be tasked with building and scaling the accounting infrastructure, implementing financial processes and establishing controls. The Controller will serve as a key leader within the accounting function, partnering directly with senior finance leadership to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of financial reporting, including quarterly and annual filings across multiple entities
• Oversee U.S. GAAP financial statements, including consolidations and intercompany activity
• Manage the full close process ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Establish and enhance internal control frameworks to support a growing, multi-entity structure
• Serve as a primary liaison for external audits and regulatory examinations
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting workflows and reporting processes
• Support expense management and payables oversight as needed
• Research technical accounting topics and communicate conclusions clearly to leadership

Requirements:

• 8 years of progressive accounting experience, CPA is preferred
• Strong background in regulatory-based reporting within a financial services or asset-backed environment
• Experience managing or building accounting teams and processes in a growth-oriented setting
• Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically — willing to dive into detail while guiding the bigger picture
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, with exposure to complex entity structures and consolidations
• Experience with transformation initiatives, process automation, or system implementations is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
