Laboratory Assistant

Job Title: Laboratory Specimen ProcessorJob Description As a Laboratory Specimen Processor, you will be responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for designated departments and locations prior to analysis and testing. You will unpack specimens from branches or ports and route them by type to various staging areas. The role involves preparing all received specimens for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations, which includes staging of specimens, centrifuging, separating serum, and creating blood smears. Additionally, you may perform data entry of test requisition information, aliquot samples for departments, prepare excess specimen samples for storage, and resolve and document problem specimens. Responsibilities + Prepare laboratory specimens for designated departments or locations prior to analysis and testing. + Unpack specimens from branches or ports and route them by type to various staging areas. + Prepare all specimens received for testing, including staging, centrifuging, separating serum, and creating blood smears. + Perform data entry of test requisition information. + Aliquot samples for departments and prepare excess specimen samples for storage. + Resolve and document problem specimens. Essential Skills + Proficiency in accessioning, SOP, and specimen processing. + Strong medical record and data entry skills, particularly 10-key data entry with the ability to key numbers at 5,000-6,000 KSPH. + Familiarity with specimen collection, laboratory procedures, and biology or life sciences. Additional Skills & Qualifications + A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. + 1-2 years of experience is preferred. + Entry-level experience is acceptable. + Data entry scores must be submitted in the application. Work Environment This position is based in a laboratory setting with a work schedule of 2nd/3rd Shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:30 PM to 2 AM. The location is in Winston-Salem. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
