JLP Business Solutions is conducting a confidential retained executive search on behalf of one of the Southeast's fastest-growing civil construction and utility infrastructure organizations.

We're seeking an experienced operational leader who wants more than simply running projects, you'll help build people, improve performance, influence strategy, and leave a lasting impact on the organization.

The Opportunity

You'll have responsibility for leading a diverse portfolio of heavy civil and utility infrastructure operations including grading, excavation, underground utilities, site development, and related public and private infrastructure projects throughout the Carolinas.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, you'll oversee operations, financial performance, safety, project execution, workforce development, customer relationships, and continuous operational improvement.

This is a highly visible leadership role with the autonomy to make decisions, develop future leaders, improve processes, and directly influence the long-term success of the business.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Leading day-to-day operations across multiple construction divisions and project teams.
• Driving profitability, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
• Building and mentoring high-performing managers, superintendents, and field teams.
• Improving scheduling, productivity, quality, and execution.
• Developing strong customer relationships that lead to repeat business.
• Creating a culture centered on accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and future expansion.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a proven builder of organizations—not simply someone who manages projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 10+ years of progressive leadership within heavy civil construction, underground utilities, excavation, grading, or site development.
• Experience leading multiple crews, business units, or geographic regions.
• Strong P&L ownership with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and operational metrics.
• A track record of improving operations while developing people and building strong teams.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with customers, employees, and executive leadership.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Ability to travel throughout North Carolina as business needs require.

• Water, Sewer & Storm Drain Construction

Experience with HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid, Vista, Sage, AGTEK, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is beneficial but not required.

• Base Salary: $180,000–$250,000 DOE
