Medical Director, Trauma Program Development & Acute Care Surgery

Mission Hospital, located in Asheville, North Carolina, is excited to welcome a seasoned/experienced Trauma Medical Director/Acute Care Surgeon to our busy ACS Level 1 program. Our Trauma center is currently ACS level II, and we have completed a level I consultation visit.

Qualified Candidates:
• Board certified in General Surgery
• Board certified in Surgical Critical Care
• ATLS certification
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
• Must have experience as Medical Director or Associate Medical Director in a Level I or II Trauma Center
• Willingness to perform in hybrid role with minimum 40% administrative duties/responsibilities
• Please note that this position does not offer visa support

Program Highlights:
• Team covers equal mix of trauma, surgical critical care and emergency general surgery
• No 24-hour shift requirement; day shifts are 10.5 hours; nights are 13.5
• Large, stable and established group; worked together for many years; Minimal turnover
• Close team collaboration, support and coverage including time-off requests
• Surgical residency offers opportunity to teach
• Resident support on trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery services
• APP support on trauma and emergency general surgery service
• Research support offered locally and through HCA's National Center Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Research
