Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing, including collecting, calculating, and inputting payroll data for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
- Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and implementing upgrades or enhancements as needed.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to validate payroll data for new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately.
- Generate required payroll reports, including tax filings, deductions, and other compliance-related documents.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries, providing excellent customer service and timely resolutions.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of all payroll-related information.
- Stay current on payroll legislation, tax updates, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll management or a similar accounting role.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, labor laws, taxation, and compliance.
- Proven experience handling payroll audits and compliance assessments.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems, with experience implementing and managing payroll solutions.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and driving record check. Participation in E-Verify required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Experience with payroll and HRIS platforms such as ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Workday, or Ceridian.
- Prior experience managing payroll for multi-state or multi-location organizations.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Knowledge of union payroll, garnishments, and other complex pay situations.
- Leadership experience managing or mentoring payroll staff.
