A day in this role

It’s 1:45 pm in Mooresville, NC, and you’re gearing up for second shift. You review the job queue, load a program, verify tool offsets, and run a first-article check using the required gaging instruments. Mid-shift, a machine throws a fault—you dive into advanced troubleshooting, adjust parameters, and bring it back to spec. A junior operator flags you for help; you coach them through blueprint interpretation and proper documentation. Before 10:00 pm, you’ve hit quality targets, completed run sheets, and left your cell spotless to 5S standards.

What you’ll do

• Set up and independently operate CNC equipment to achieve productivity, precision, and consistent quality.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and make in-process adjustments to resolve complex machine issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications to ensure conformance.
• Conduct quality checks on parts using the required gaging instruments and record results accurately.
• Complete all shop and quality documentation with precision and timeliness.
• Champion 5S and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Model safe practices and follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
• Mentor junior operators to build skill and confidence across the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills you’ll use

• Ability to interpret work instructions and travelers.
• Comfort following written and verbal directions with intermediate communication skills.
• Intermediate math for measurements, offsets, and tolerances.
• Proficiency with required gaging instruments and their applications.

What you bring

• 2–5 years in a similar CNC role with demonstrated independence.
• Confidence working under minimal supervision.
• Track record of tackling complex problems on the shop floor.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of CNC machining processes and shop practices.

Physical demands

• Lift and push/pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Stand for extended periods; frequent bending and stooping.
• Manual dexterity to handle small components.
• Comfort working in a noisy manufacturing environment.

Schedule, location, and pay

• Shift: Second shift, 1:45 pm – 10:00 pm.
• Work location: Onsite in Mooresville, North Carolina 28115.
• Pay range: $21–$24 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
