PCU Nursing Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Location: Wilmington, NC 28401 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel contract
• Unit: Cardiac Telemetry, PCU
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1700-$1750
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 (surgical step down), 1:5-6 (lower acuity)
• Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible)
• Orientation: 24 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac nursing experience (PCU, Telemetry, Stepdown)
• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license (required at start)
• BLS & ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Required skills: Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Sheath Removal, Dysrhythmia Interpretation & Management, Post MI care, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Cardiac drip management (including titration), Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), External CPAP/BIPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management
• Preferred skills: Arterial line management, Wound Care/Wound Vac, Charge nurse experience

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions
• Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
• Perform sheath removal and manage post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips according to protocol
• Care for patients with chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, and specialized respiratory equipment
• Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Document care accurately using Epic EMR and follow SBAR communication protocols
• Participate in storm/hurricane response teams as required
