Safety Coordinator
- Perform Daily Construction Site and Safety Inspections, i.e., SEC Project Site Safety Inspection.
- Document a Weekly Jobsite Safety Audit to be shared with SEC Project Team, Clients, Regional Safety Managers, VP/Regional Managers, Project Executives, and/or General Contractors.
- Communication and documentation of the inspections conducted should be provided, including suggestions for necessary corrective measures.
- Conduct compliance inspections of assigned field leadership personnel ensuring all safety-related forms/inspections, i.e., SEC Pre-Task Planning, Tic Tester Checks, Toolbox Talks, Equipment Inspections, and High-Risk Permits are being submitted and adhered to daily.
- Conduct or assist assigned leadership personnel with incident and/or injury investigations to include near-miss investigations, first aid, vehicle accidents, and property damage.
- Ensure assigned project(s) are adequately equipped with safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, first aid kits, etc. to support the currently assigned workforce.
- Enforce and implement SEC safety policies and procedures by assisting Aid the field leadership team with maintaining a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with State, Federal, or Client Specific safety regulations, practices, and standards.
- Assisting the supervisors in enforcing the safety policy and environmental health guidelines.
- Ensure that training requirements are met for both SEC in-house, or project specific personnel and subcontractors as needed.
- Promoting all SEC Safety Campaigns and Initiatives, including the 5x5 Program, Near Miss Reporting, Stretch and Flex, Safety Pledges, Driving Safety Pledges, and the Courage to Care Pledge, etc.
- Perform Weekly Site Safety Audits for assigned project(s), as needed, or at the request of the SEC Safety Director, Regional Safety Manager, VP/Regional Managers, Project Executives, and/or General Contractors.
- Deliver comprehensive in-house safety training to SEC employees, covering a range of topics such as Quick Hit Training, Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) operation, fall protection, heat stress prevention, ladder safety, and the safe use of power-driven tools.
- Record, file, update and distribute training certifications as necessary for all SEC trainees.
- Attending all Safety meetings required by SEC, General Contractors, and Owners while representing SEC in a professional manner.
- Maintain a central location for all project(s) safety documentation. This includes but is not limited to SEC Site Specific Safety Plan, GC/Client Site Specific Safety Plan, AHAs, Incident/Accident Investigation Reports, Silica Exposure Plan, OSHA logs, Fall Protection/Rescue Plan etc.
- Submit a bi-weekly site training matrix to the SEC Project Team, Client, Regional Safety Managers, VP/Regional Managers, Project Executives, and/or General Contractors.
- An in-depth knowledge of Starr Electric Company Environmental, Health, and Safety Manual.
- An in-depth knowledge of all OSHA, ANSI, State, and Federal regulations in accordance with both 29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910.
- A strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70E manual.
- Skilled at creating, filing, maintaining, and disposition criteria for personnel and company records.
- Proficient in web/database safety and training programs.
- Proficient in writing internal and external correspondence.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize essential functions of the job to meet deadlines.
- Ability to foster and maintain teamwork skills.
- Demonstrates proficient and professional communication skills.
- Able to adjust and be flexible to sudden demands.
- Ability to present to and train both large and small groups on a regular basis.
- Ability to travel and work out of town if needed.
- Must have own transportation and pass an MVR record check.
Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites Required/Preferred:
- OSHA 30 – Required
- First Aid CPR AED – Required
- NFPA70E Qualified - Required
- OSHA 510 – Preferred
- Bilingual - English and Spanish - Preferred
- At least two years of work experience in discharging duties related to safety coordination at a major construction site.
