Your impact

From raw car shells to gleaming finished vehicles, you’ll turn precision prep into premium finishes:

• Prepare, prime, and topcoat light rail vehicles.
• Execute hand, block, and mechanical sanding to ready car shells for coatings.
• Mask and clean surfaces to ensure adhesion and finish quality.
• Apply primers and undercoats per work instructions.
• Keep paint equipment in good working order through routine maintenance.
• Collaborate and assist fellow painters whenever needed.

Your toolkit

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent mix of education and experience with painting/related materials in manufacturing.
• 1+ year of practical painting experience in a production or similar setting.
• Basic English proficiency to communicate with customers, vendors, contracted services, and colleagues.
• Ability to read/write simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and technical documents.
• Comfort with math across whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; able to compute rate/ratio/percent and interpret bar graphs.

Physical requirements

• Frequent walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Frequent climbing (stairs, steps, ladders).
• Regular work on elevated platforms and overhead.
• Lift/move up to 40 lbs.

The base rate for this position in Lexington, NC ranges from $16.00/hr to $19.68/hr, with final compensation dependent on budget and on your experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
