Applied AI Engineer II
The Basics
As an Applied AI Engineer II, you will be tasked with building and maintaining best-of-breed products as part of a small and nimble development team. Tanium focuses on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying the products from the ground up, while continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and deploy AI Agents and machine learning models to solve complex business problems
- Create and maintain backend systems for LLMs and AI Agents, ensuring high performance and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and workflows
- Optimize and fine-tune models and AI Agents for performance, accuracy, and efficiency
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for AI model and AI Agent deployment
- Monitor and troubleshoot AI systems in production, ensuring reliability and robustness
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, AI Agents, and related technologies
We’re looking for someone with
- Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- CS Degree preferred
- Experience
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Proven experience as an AI Developer, AI Engineer, or similar role
- Expert knowledge of at least one of Golang (preferred), Python or Java and experience with Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with LLMs, AI Agents, and natural language processing (NLP) techniques
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies
- Other
- Demonstrates sound judgment for balancing between rapid development, and long-term code maintainability and supportability
- Communicates effectively, both technically and non-technically, as well as in written and oral forms
- Believes in the power of and the need for writing automated tests as part of development
- Skilled debugger who can put out fires under pressure when things go wrong in production environments
- Has knowledge of a variety of modern software frameworks (server side & browser side) and the versatility to learn new tools
- Detail-oriented and passionate for creating an awesome user experience

What you’ll get
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 - $295,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package consisting of medical, dental and vision plan, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
