Affordable Housing Auditors Needed Affordable Housing Audit Manager
Location: Remote | Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a strong commitment to affordable housing to lead audit engagements that ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance across housing programs serving low-income communities. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a mission-driven environment, supporting the development and sustainability of affordable housing nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audits for affordable housing projects, with a focus on HUD, LIHTC, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee audit planning, execution, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
- Analyze financial statements and operational data to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to housing developers, property managers, and nonprofit partners on financial and compliance matters.
- Prepare and present audit findings to internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
- Stay current on evolving affordable housing regulations, tax credit programs, and industry best practices.
- Mentor junior auditors and contribute to the development of audit methodologies tailored to affordable housing.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license (required).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of audit experience , preferably in affordable housing, nonprofit, or public sector environments.
- Deep understanding of HUD regulations, LIHTC compliance, and affordable housing finance structures.
- Strong technical proficiency in audit procedures, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Passion for affordable housing and a commitment to serving underserved communities.
