Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Experience designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Proficiency with various communication modes, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral, and/or total communication
• Strong understanding of assistive technology and amplification systems
• Ability to work closely with general education staff, families, and related service providers
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and teaching methods to diverse needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a variety of educational settings
• Assess and document students’ progress, adapting goals and strategies to optimize learning
• Facilitate accessibility to the core curriculum by developing materials, utilizing appropriate technology, and providing language support
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
• Provide training or resources for school staff and families to support the student’s communication and learning
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and ongoing professional development
• Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages confidence and independence
