Construction Electrical Supervisor
About the Role
We are seeking a site-based Construction Electrical Supervisor to oversee and coordinate construction activities related to the delivery of EPCM projects (CES elements) at a facility in Durham.
The successful candidate will ensure efficient and safe project execution in line with industry standards and specifications. This includes managing on-site construction teams, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and ensuring timely, budget-aligned delivery.
This role requires a full-time presence on site. Candidates must either reside locally or be able and willing to travel daily.
Key Responsibilities
The Construction Electrical Supervisor will supervise all on-site electrical construction activities in compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
As the Construction Electrical Supervisor, provide technical expertise and leadership on all EC&I (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) installations.
Monitor and track construction progress against project plans and schedules, ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
Conduct regular site assessments and audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Support engineering efforts by reviewing and developing electrical designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
The Construction Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for identifying potential risks to project delivery and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the site.
Keep detailed and accurate documentation of construction activities, including daily logs, inspection records, change orders, and as-built drawings.
Enforce site safety procedures, conduct inspections, and apply hazard controls in line with project health and safety policies.
The Construction Electrical Supervisor will implement quality control processes to ensure all electrical work meets or exceeds client and industry requirements, addressing any deficiencies as needed.
Maintain a consistent and visible presence in the field, actively participating in health and safety planning, and positively intervening during live construction work to ensure tasks are performed safely and according to approved method statements.
Requirements
Essential
18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
Trade-related City & Guilds qualification (ECS Gold Card or equivalent).
Site supervision certification: SSSTS (minimum), ideally SMSTS.
At least 5 years of electrical field supervision experience on complex industrial projects (pharmaceutical sector preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desirable
Bachelor’s degree, HND, or HNC in Electrical Engineering.
Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) certification.
