Company is growing! We are building our first US-based software engineering team and are looking for a Technical Manager to join our Connectivity Squad. The Engineering and Product teams at Company are transforming how we design and build software solutions for our users. We are delivering more value, much faster as we leverage a fine-grained microservice architecture approach. This role gives you the opportunity to have an impact on defining the tools, services, and principles we use to engineer high-quality software for a highly available SaaS platform.

Responsibilities

• Providing leadership, support, and motivation to a squad of software engineers
• Creating learning and development plans to expedite the career progression of those you lead
• Working closely with your squad Product Manager to understand the needs of the customer and the business so that you can contribute to shaping our products
• Contributing to the technical design and architecture of software/platforms
• Hands-on, both writing code and also driving code quality by conducting code reviews, unit, integration and other automated tests
• Managing initiative scope before, during and post–delivery, including estimations
• Identifying and removing bottlenecks that impede the progress of initiatives
• Ensuring the regular delivery of product features and initiatives in accordance with Agile (Scrum) methodologies
• Evangelizing software engineering at Company through things such as blogs, events, meet-ups, and roundtables

Qualifications

• 6+ years of engineering/development experience - full stack development using:
• 3+ years of experience having software engineering direct reports (managing and leading)
• Experience working within Agile/DevOps development environments
• Good experience working with modern, cloud-based architectures, RESTful APIs, event-driven services, serverless and CI/CD
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS-specific experience an advantage)
• A deep understanding of, along with experience using, fundamental software engineering (including automated testing, observability, and security) principles and practices
• Strong organizational and communication skills with experience developing & instilling a collaborative engineering culture
• Bonus: Computer Science / Software Engineering degree
• Relevant AWS Solutions Architect certification(s) or similar
