HVAC & Plumbing Technician

Location: Elizabeth City, NC

The HVAC & Plumbing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and functionality of residential and commercial properties by installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently. The technician will work closely with clients to assess their needs, provide expert recommendations, and deliver high-quality service that meets industry standards and local codes. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent hazards and ensure system longevity. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall operational excellence and customer satisfaction of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited HVAC and plumbing technical training program or apprenticeship.
• Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
• Proven experience working as an HVAC and plumbing technician or in a similar role.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from recognized industry bodies such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or PHCC (Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association).
• Experience with advanced diagnostic tools and computerized HVAC control systems.
• Knowledge of green technologies and energy-efficient system installations.
• Strong background in commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Additional certifications in electrical systems or welding.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation units.
• Diagnose plumbing issues such as leaks, blockages, and faulty fixtures, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with customers to explain technical issues, recommend solutions, and provide cost estimates for repairs or installations.
• Maintain accurate service records, order parts, and ensure all work complies with local building codes and industry standards.
