Job Responsibilities

IMS Budget Specialist I

Drive Financial Precision in Clinical Trial Delivery

Syneos Health is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven IMS Budget Specialist I to support the financial backbone of global clinical trials. In this role, you will serve as a key operational partner, ensuring that investigator payments, contract budgets, and financial systems are aligned, accurate, and inspection-ready.

If you thrive in data-driven environments, enjoy translating contract language into actionable financial structures, and want to play a critical role in study startup and execution, this is a high-visibility opportunity to build deep expertise in clinical trial financial operations.

What You Will Lead & Support:

Contract & Budget Interpretation

  • Analyze and interpret payment terms within fully executed Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs).

  • Translate contract language into accurate and compliant site budget structures within CTMS.

  • Ensure alignment between negotiated contract budgets and system templates.

Financial System Accuracy & Data Integrity

  • Input and validate site budget costs within the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).

  • Perform quality control reviews of cost structures to ensure precision and compliance.

  • Maintain and update contractual budget records and financial setup details within enterprise systems.

  • Reconcile payment data and support reporting accuracy across multiple platforms.

Payment Strategy & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as a subject matter resource to project teams on contract interpretation and investigator payment strategies.

  • Proactively contribute to Investigator Payment Planning (IPP) meetings, supporting strategic payment setup for new studies.

  • Assist in resolving payment setup discrepancies and operational challenges.

  • Ensure vendor financial account information and required tax documentation are complete and compliant.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless budget implementation.

  • Support multi-study environments while maintaining high attention to detail and deadline adherence.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Strong Excel proficiency, including data manipulation and reconciliation.

  • Experience with reporting, financial data handling, and budget tracking.

  • Ability to interpret contractual payment language and apply it accurately within financial systems.

  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems or CTMS platforms preferred.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational discipline.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Why This Role Matters:

Accurate investigator payments and contract alignment are essential to maintaining site relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving study momentum. As an IMS Budget Specialist I, you will directly support the financial integrity of clinical programs—helping ensure that clinical sites are compensated correctly, timelines stay on track, and operational execution runs smoothly.

This role offers a strong foundation for growth within clinical financial operations, study startup, and broader project management pathways.
