About the Role

As an Aquatic Manager at Aqua-Tots, you’ll oversee our aquatic team, ensuring every swim lesson meets our high standards for safety, quality, and an exceptional family experience. You’ll work closely with the General Manager to lead, develop, and inspire your team while actively participating in the pool and shaping the culture of your school.

This role combines leadership, hands-on coaching, and customer engagement—you’ll be in the water training instructors, observing lessons, and providing real-time feedback, all while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and families.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

1. Hire, train, coach, and develop aquatic team members according to Aqua-Tots standards.
2. Conduct instructor assessments, In-Service trainings, and team meetings.
3. Mentor underperforming teammates and create action plans to support growth.
4. Foster a positive team culture, motivating staff and promoting engagement, collaboration, and accountability.

Family Experience

1. Ensure the aquatic team provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience for families.
2. Educate families on the Aqua-Tots program and assist in addressing curriculum- or instructor-related questions or concerns.
3. Manage student progression, class schedules, and follow-up on feedback or withdrawals.
4. Support the General Manager in resolving family service issues and ensuring consistent quality across all lessons.

Operations & Facility Oversight

1. Maintain the pool environment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and brand standards.
2. Monitor team adherence to safety protocols and handle incident reporting as needed.
3. Assist in managing schedules, attendance, and coverage to ensure smooth operations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school graduate or GED equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred
2. At least 18 years of age
3. Valid driver’s license
4. Open availability

Preferred Qualifications

1. Operations experience: Oversight of day-to-day operations, hiring, scheduling, goal setting, and financial or budgetary responsibility
2. Team leadership experience: Developing, coaching, redirecting, and motivating staff
3. Strong hospitality skills: Models excellent customer service, engages with families, observes and provides feedback, tracks customer service metrics, and builds excitement among the team
4. Capability in developing others: Models performance standards, provides feedback, addresses barriers, creates development plans, sets expectations, and manages resistance to feedback effectively
5. Leads by example: Maintains a positive attitude, self-identifies opportunities, communicates change in a compelling way
6. Attention to detail: Monitors performance, identifies mistakes, corrects them timely, and implements steps to prevent recurrence
7. Team building skills: Communicates goals, clarifies roles, resolves conflicts, measures progress, and celebrates success
8. Effective communication: Speaks and writes clearly, expresses thoughts thoroughly and professionally
9. Strong social skills: Engages professionally with eye contact, body language, enthusiasm, and responsiveness
