The ASL Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of our American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting program. This position involves ensuring the efficient delivery of ASL services to clients, maintaining relationships with interpreters and clients, and continuously improving service quality. The ASL Program Coordinator will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure that ASL services are provided seamlessly. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ASL interpreting program, including scheduling, assignment management, and service delivery.
- Interpreter Coordination: Recruit, onboard, and manage ASL interpreters, ensuring they meet quality and certification standards. Assign interpreters to client requests based on skillset and availability.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients requiring ASL services, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and professional manner.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and assess the quality of ASL interpreting services provided. Implement feedback and continuous improvement measures to maintain high standards.
- Compliance: Ensure that all ASL services provided comply with legal standards, including ADA requirements, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry regulations.
- Reporting & Metrics: Track program performance metrics such as interpreter utilization, client satisfaction, and service quality. Prepare regular reports for management on program effectiveness.
- Training & Development: Organize and coordinate ongoing training and development programs for ASL interpreters to enhance their skills and ensure compliance with GLS and industry standards.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues related to scheduling conflicts, interpreter performance, or client concerns, ensuring a smooth and effective workflow.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Deaf Studies, Communication, Business Management, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a deep understanding of Deaf culture.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in managing ASL interpreting services or similar language programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with scheduling systems and tools for managing interpreter services.
- Familiarity with ADA compliance and other regulations related to ASL interpreting.
- Problem-solving abilities and a client-focused attitude.
- Certification as an ASL Interpreter (RID, NAD, or equivalent).
- Experience working in a language service provider (LSP) environment.
- Previous experience in recruiting or managing freelance interpreters.
- Knowledge of additional language services beyond ASL.
