Job Title: Community Support Staff / Direct Support Professional (Part-Time)
Location: Durham, NC
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule:
While School is in Session:
- MondayFriday: 5:00 PM 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM 12:00 PM
- MondayFriday: 9:00 AM 12:00 PM
We are seeking a reliable, patient, and compassionate Community Support Staff to provide one-on-one support to a 20-year-old male with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) . This position focuses on supporting independence, communication, and meaningful participation within the community.
Staff will assist the individual with community integration, communication development, and daily living skills in a supportive and engaging manner.
Responsibilities
- Support community integration and participation in community-based activities
- Assist with shopping skills , including making selections and completing purchases
- Provide support with nonverbal communication strategies
- Encourage development of verbal communication skills
- Promote independence, confidence, and appropriate social interactions
- Ensure safety and supervision during community outings
- Follow individualized support strategies and document services as required
- Experience working with individuals with IDD preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, dependable, and able to follow directions
- Ability to assist with community-based activities and transportation
- Must pass background check
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Experience supporting communication development
- Experience with community integration supports
- Ability to model positive social and communication behaviors
